My Oscar Picks {for gowns!}

Considering every celebrity has some sort of stylist at their disposal, finding people who disappoint in their red carpet appearances gets harder and harder each year!
But no worries, even a big major celebrity can go rogue every one in awhile and my friends, tonight was no different.

But first, here are my top contenders:

*
Shailene Woodley in Valentino
While this dress wasn't overly glamorous, I adore the long sleeves and details on the chest.  Cut this dress off at the knees and I'd wear it work (with a cami underneath, for modesty of course).  Which, now that I think about it, probably makes it even less appropriate for an awards show, but regardless, I love it!

*
Guiliana Rancic in Tony Ward
Between her makeup, hair, and this dress, I think G looks as good as any celebrity nominee (or at least presenter).  I know a lot of people find her annoying, but after watching her reality show, I kinda like her.

*
Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen
This print is just so regal and stunning and she totally stands out in the crowd.  In a good way.  Prints on a gown are hard to pull off, so when I saw her making her way down the carpet, I was excited to see something different.

And my best dressed is...
*
"Really, I'm that cute?  Awww, you're too nice...."
Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton
I love how Michelle Williams can wear a shorts suit to one awards show and this gorgeous dress to the next. The coral color and peplum are so on trend for Spring.  And the pink clutch?  I love it!  I want it!
My only critique would be maybe she should have a bit of a chunkier necklace?  But that little bow broach at the waist?  Too cute!

They've gone rogue!
*
Jenny from the block wearing Zuhair Murad.  No, no, no. I do not like those key hole sleeves and the plunging neckline is smooshing her boobs.  We know she can look stunning so why this?!  I think it actually ages her and no offense to Joan Collins, but this dress looks like it came off the set of Dynasty!

*
Gweneth Paltrow in Tom Ford
No words.
That long cape seems overly dramatic and quite cumbersome.  Does she take it off when she sits down or does keep it on and toss over the back of her chair when she takes her seat?  Not a fan, Gwennie, not a fan.
Did you watch the red carpet?  What are your picks and pans?!?!

  2. I didn't see Guiliana's shoes but I hope they were the Manolo Blahnik Swan's because they match perfectly with the shoulders on her gown. And is JLo thinking she was at the Grammy's...ugly dress. Remove the sleeves and it might have been better. Also, I'm not a fan of Gwyneth but I think if she had removed her coat/cape the dress might have looked better. I understand it was colder than normal in CA tonight but all the other ladies braved it without capes and jackets, why couldn't she? I agree that Michelle Williams was the Best Dressed. She's just so darn cute!

  3. Great picks! I'm appalled at Gwyneth Paltrow's look...what is up with that cape?

  4. Gwyneth was actually one of my favorites!I loved the minimalism! I didn't care for Michelle Williams fluffiness, J LO looked stuffed sausage~y, and I think Guiliana's gown was divine but her hair was harsh on her already too thin frame. I agree about Jessica Chastain's gown...stunning!
Too be honest, I didn't watch too much of it, and was mostly excited about Christopher Plummer's win...he's a classic! And was super hot as Captain Von Trapp....

  5. I really loved Gweyneth's dress I thought it really flattered her and she always knows how to dress and look pretty! I also LOVE G she is so cute and I don't get annoyed by her at all!! I thought Angelina looked like she needed a good meal!

  6. I loved Michelle Williams too, she is too cute! And I love Giuliana too, I think she is funny on her show and not annoying at all.

  7. Loved Emma Stone. Loved Michelle. I like Gwyneth without the cape. Did not like Stacy Kiebler (she looked dated) and I didn't love Guilliana - I thought her dress looked a little too "figure skater".

  8. Giuliana! I don't know why more best-dressed lists didn't cover her - because she's not a "celebrity?" Girl looked stunning!

I did also adore Angelina's look though - but poor girl was stuck in one pose all evening! And I know she's got her Look down, but I wanna see her in some color - like a bright bold blue!

  9. Michelle was just amazing! And that hair style makes me want to get my hair super short.

  10. I thought Michelle looked great! Did you see Sandra Bullock? I was totally disappointed in the gown she chose.
