UK Trip Recap
My friends (and co-workers), Lisa and Sue and Sue's sister Karla booked a tour with Collette Vacations through Lisa's dad, Denny-who use to do US tours on his own coach bus. He sold the bus and now coordinates (and goes on) trips around the globe. Wheew, caught that?
Oh, by the way, we were the youngest members of the group.
**London recap here.
**Cambridge and York recap here.
**Edinburgh recap here.
After we left Edinburgh, we headed back into England and traveled through the beautiful Lake District. This area was just gorgeous, with the huge mountains and winding loose stone walls.
We had lunch and shopped in Grasmere, home of the poet William Wordsworth.
After we left Grasmere, we rode to our overnight destination, the allegedly haunted Ruthin Castle.
Suit of armour awaits your arrival at the top of the stairs
When we got to our room, we wondered if someone made a mistake, I mean, why is there all that signage on our door and why is there is an exit sign above it?
How secure is this place? Break glass for key? So someone can come in?
Want to rob or pillage these ladies? Okay, break glass for key.
For a minute we forgot about the key business, because we were in awe of our room!
Our bathroom was huge, but wait a minute, what's that sign on the window all about?
OUR ROOM WAS AN EMERGENCY EXIT. YOU KNOW, LIKE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, PEOPLE SHOULD COME THROUGH OUR ROOM TO ESCAPE.
I don't want there to be an emergency, but if there is, please oh please don't let it be when I'm using the toilet.
Luckily, the only emergency was trying to find a purse to fit this huge a** room key when we went out that night!
As long as there are no emergencies, I really wish we could have stayed in the castle one more night.
But alas, our final hotel destination was awaiting us in Stratford Upon Avon...
